Abstract

Economics terminology is developing so fast and changing to such a great extent that the majority of the terms cannot be found in dictionaries and glossaries, since our linguists are unable to investigate and record these new linguistic phenomena so quickly. However, if we are not aware of the appearance and existence of these new terms, the history of their evolution will be forgotten and the amazing enrichment of the Hungarian vocabulary will be ignored. This language change is a great opportunity for establishing a research group for studying economic terms within the framework of Budapest Business School, Zalaegerszeg College of Business Administration, Institute of Languages and Communication. The primary aim of the research group is to compile a database of economic terms. The aspects of investigation include the diachronic and terminological analysis of Hungarian economic terms, and the English equivalents of recently created Hungarian economic terms. Details of the research plan and some of the results are revealed in the present paper.
