Abstract
The increasing reliance on digital tools and platforms has reshaped how multinational corporations (MNCs) manage remote and hybrid teams. Whereas the technologies promote connectivity, they also reveal hidden cultural differences in communication, decision-making, and managerial expectations. This study examines how cultures impact the effectiveness of digital collaboration and the appearance of friction within multicultural teams. Based on Hofstede’s cultural dimensions, the research explores how cultural orientations toward hierarchy, directness of communication, and uncertainty avoidance affect team dynamics, the establishment of trust, and project outcomes in work environments driven by digital technology. The study adopts a qualitative exploratory approach based on semi-structured interviews with employees working in culturally diverse multinational teams. The study provides insight into how digital communication practices interact with cultural expectations and how culturally responsive management practices may help reduce friction and improve cross-cultural collaboration.
